While Black Adam‘s Dwayne Johnson frequently signaled that he wants his character to scrap with Superman, the star just shared how that fight would look in his mind.
With the release of Black Adam quickly approaching, Johnson teased the oft-imagined fight between Superman and his titular antihero. Since the film’s announcement, fans have been excited about seeing Black Adam fighting other heroes and villains in the DC Extended Universe. In an interview with Jake Hamilton, Johnson told him how he pictured it would happen. “I think Black Adam lands the first punch,” he said, knowing his character well. “Now, I don’t know Black Adam lands the last punch, uh because Superman, I grew up a DC boy. Superman… I love Superman. I loved Superman and I still do.”
Superman’s Speculated Black Adam Appearance
Henry Cavill’s Superman was rumored to return to the DCEU in Black Adam. Johnson has repeatedly teased Cavill’s comeback in the upcoming Warner Bros. Discovery and DC film. “I just saw the movie again last night. I can’t wait for you guys to see Black Adam…He is the most powerful and unstoppable force on this planet,” Johnson said in an Instagram post. However, he emphasized the phrase “On this planet” and winked at the camera, which many fans believed to be another hint at Cavill’s return.
At San Diego Comic-Con, fans have speculated that Cavill would appear at DC’s Black Adam panel. Though he didn’t show, Johnson continued to be hopeful, “I will say, as you guys know, we’re all in deep in this mythology, and it’s been the age-old question of who would win in a fight between Black Adam or Superman?” he said. “Pound for pound, they’re pretty close. I guess it probably all depends on who’s playing Superman. I’ll just say that. I’ll leave it at that.”
In addition to Johnson’s years-long tease, some reports claim that Cavill’s Superman will show up in Black Adam‘s post-credits scene, apparently accompanied by John Williams’ classic score from the Christopher Reeve-led films of the ’70s and ’80s. Said report came from the recent screening that took place in Mexico City.
Recently, DC shared a reel on TikTok in which Black Adam was seen fighting Hawkman while destroying images of Flash, Aquaman and even Superman. Additionally, one of the previous trailers included Superman with footage from other films, which served as Black Adam‘s first concrete reference to the Man of Steel.
